Requirements

(11.a.) AGE - Students must be at least seventeen (17) years old.
(11.b.) Immunizations

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria (TDAP) Within the Last 10 Years)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
  • Bacterial Meningitis (Students Under Age 21)
  • Negative TB Test Within the Last Calendar Year

Identification - Students must have a Social Security card and a valid GOVERNMENT ISSUED photo ID card on enrollment. The names on the Social Security card and the Photo ID MUST match.

Criminal background - Students must sign a release for MeritLife to check the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Background Check prior to admission to the program.

**Attendance -Texas Health and Human Services require students to attend for a minimum number of hours. As such, a student MUST ATTEND THE ENTIRE COURSE. The State of Texas requires 60 hours in the classroom and 40 hours in clinical for a total of 100 hours for the Nurse Aide Trainee. MeritLife Academy offers 112. (See breakdown below)
